When I was out and about Sunday doing some backroading, I pulled into a gas station, filled up as usual. Then went to close the gas door and it wouldn't shut. So i jerry-rigged some zipties on the inside of the trunk to keep it shut. But there's no way in hell i'm cutting zip ties everytime I fill up. Kind of self-conscious about.

So anyway. Is there a part # for this? It's the black plastic clip that keeps it secure in the gas door's jamb. Or do I have to get the whole assembly? I suppose the latter. Or does anyone know of a better fix so I don't have to use zip ties? I tried a few things, like I found some metal ring clips. But that didn't work.

So infuriating.

Ok. Looked thru my FSM. It is called the 'fuel filler lid opener'.... apparently in the picture there is a lock nut that gets threaded on the gas door side. Which I don't remember seeing--which would explain a lot. I have to take a look at my bf's hatch and see what it looks like.

Otherwise. I couldn't find a part number though

Well it is a part you can order. (Cause I'm sure this happens a lot)

Anyway, it will be in at the local Nissan dealer this Friday. Yippee!

I suggest you call up your local Nissan dealer (or our Nico Sponsor) to find it. It does exist!

I went out to my bf's fastback and took a look and it's definitely something custom--it has a rubber grommet within the nut too.

Hopefully since the threads on my gas lever are kind of messed up that it will still go on w/ some threadlock I hope.

not sure about the part number, but might wanna give Mike at midway parts a holler. I always bug that guy about obscure parts that keep breaking on my s13 and he always seems to take it in awesome stride. 1-866-271-0502

It comes as a whole assembly (which also opens the trunk). I just ordered one (s13).

Once I get motivated to do my bodywork, my fuel filler's going inside the trunk...

One latch, many uses.

i had to replace the entire cable for the gas door/trunk to fix it cause it all comes as on piece from the dealer. it takes about 45 min. or so to replace, you have to remove the back seat and passenger rear trim panel to remove and replace the cable assy.

Some of those that posted didn't read what I wrote. If the nylon nut broke, you CAN get just the nut (not the whole damn assembly)

Here's the part number, I just picked it up today:

84656-50A10

Your'e welcome!!
