I have an 04 g35 coupe with the factory Bose sound system. The problem I am having is that my sound originally came out fine. Then one day the speakers on the right side of the car became very dim and distorted.

At first I thought the speakers were blown but after driving around for a bit (and hitting a bump in the road) the right side came back. Then a day later the right side of the cars speakers did it again. Essentially the passenger side lower speaker is low and distorted. The passenger side tweeter makes no sound and the rear speaker are dim and distorted.

I determined it was the right side of the car by playing around with the balance and fader option on the stereo to narrow down and check the sound levels.

I imagine the problem with my sound system is that it is either the wiring is loose or the amp is almost toast. Also to add the stereo equipment has never been changed. Thanks in advance for any kind of input.

most likely the connector on your speaker is loose. Take off the door panel and check it out...if not that, then your factory amp wire is loose.

It would probably be a good time to throw in an aftermarket speaker set!

See if there is a rattle to the sound of the speaker. I had a blown speaker do pretty much the same thing.

The funny thing that is happening is that it started working fine and then went dull again but this time on the left side. It sometimes fixes itself when I accelerate or if I change cd's. Im leaning toward the amp or the bose stereo console. Ive heard how the bose in this model g35 have been troublesome. I'll check out the speaker wiring too. I liked how the bose system sounded in my car but when I start to really listen to it and raise the volume I realized what all those audiophiles were talking about. The bose really doesnt have a good clear sound at higher volume. If I have to replace the amp do you guys have any opinion of a good replacement for the factory bose amp?

I know in the maxima bose head units there was a ribbon cable that would come loose. I wonder if yours is a somewhat similar situation.
