ok heres the situation.....i could use as much help as poosible cause I've already costed myself about $500 from these chips. Ok i finally get my car back today from having my redtop sr put in. over the last 3 days we've started the car up close to 10-15 times with NO PROBLEM. We were still working on the brakes (and thats why we only drove it down the street....to test the z32's)....we finished up the brakes this morning and viola i finally have my car back......now i drive it about 5 miles to the gas station to fill up......once i fill up i go to start her up and she just cranks and cranks.......finally i get ahold of my buddy and he came down with his ignitor chip (his is still getting worked on) that i have to replace for him, we toss it in and boom she starts right up. Now i figure i just fried the chip and that was that.....i drove the car for about an hour or so and go home. about 10 minutes later i go to start the car up and she just cranks on me.......(man i have the worst luck.....the day i get it back) so i go and test the continueity on both ignitor chips and they're fried......i was getting a signal from I-I and E-E but nothing across the chip (I-E, or vise versa)......now i have no idea whats goin on in there that could be burning these chips out.....i'm already in the hole $500 now and need some advice.......PLEASE HELP!:help :help

Take it back to whomever installed your motor and tell them they messed something up and that they need to fix it AND replace your burnt up friends ignitor chip. They probabally won't, but it's worth a try.

Yea, heavy throttle does good work. Have you called them yeat? They are good guys and would be more than happy to help you out, especially if it was thier wireing. If your friend did the install, you migh have him call them, so that they can talk about how things were installed.

ignitor chips aren't $250 a piece if you go to a junk yard to find wrecked 95+ q45s. I found mine for $80. Next time I go I'm looking to get the front calipers and maybe an extra ignitor chip or two.

if the CA one is the same I can get them for like $10.00 each on my end. The CA one looks just like the VH type in the Q45.

Something is wrong with your car amongst the ignition system. I've been using a 95 q45 ignitor chip for 2 yrs now going on to 3 yrs and it still hasn't died on me yet. And it was plug and play.

Check all your connections to see what's going on. You might have a short or something in the lines. Really, the best thing to do is talk to heavy T about it since they did the wiring.

the hot/cold start sensor......we removed it earlier to make a place for my aftermarket Temp. gauge and since it always started b4 we didn't think it was a probblem......then we were working on it.....we saw that we had fuel, air and spark so we finally thought of the sensor and put it back it in.....sure enough that was the problem......without it the ecu always thought the car was cold so it was dumping tons of fule and little spark and retarding the timing.....

hahaha, well at least you got it fixed...I'm sure I'll have some small little stupid mistakes like that when I do my swap (new engine came in yesterday, yay for me! can you tell I'm happy?) I'm glad you got your problems worked out though!

towards the front of the motor on the throttle side, if u squeeze ur hand in below the fuel rail and intake manifold there is a wet sensor screwed into the block where the coolant flows.....it should have a red clip attched to it

water temp sending unit. that is the sending unit for the ecu to read water temp. the other sensor beside it with only one wire is the temp sending unit for the gauge cluster. they use a different sensor because nissan wanted the gauge to stay at one spot and be of any use to us. the ecu really needs to know water temp so it gets a nicer gauge. the signal with the red plug is also compatible with autometer water temp gauges. so you don't have to use the one that comes with the autometer.shaun

About the Ignitor Chip, the chip is just a row of power transistors and it can easily be fried by grounding out one of the coil packs signal wires. It sounds like this is the case since it ran for a minute. Check your wiring and the coil packs.
