Hi, I just change rear strut for my j30. I have no problem to remove the rear strut and change the new one. However, I have problem when I install it back. I found I can not reach the lower bolt of the strut. My strut is 2-3 cm lower than the low bolt position after I tight the upper bolts. I need someone has similar experience and give me some advice. I can show you the similar pictur from 240sx forum. I just put the link:zerothread?id=418344

I have the same problem as the last third picture showed.

Thank you

I am in dallas.

i replaced mine only twice, each time i never compressed the springs. i just used one hydraulic jack to raise car so high that the wheel area excluding tire and rim hung extra low---the new strut assembly was bolted in from the top already with spring on---then i used second hydraulic jack to raise the wheel area to meet the strut assembly then bolted it in 20 mins. or soi hope this helps

I have done the job. Just use scissors jack between the strut and upper linker then push the whole brake system (rotor and low control arm etc) down to the right position and it is done. Just need less then 30seconds. The whole job is only about 30 min if you know how to change the strut by spring compressor.

It is so simple for j30 changing rear struts.

You are talking about the rears correct? Not the PITA fronts, right?

I took the fronts off that way I just raised the car high enough, disconnected, removed everything. After everything including calipers are removed, take the nuts off under the hood. the whole assembly is heavy and you have to lift or pry it up to get it off of the lower ball joint. It may be easier to unbolt the cross member and disconnect the ball joint on the bench. (I thought of that to late)
