+1, you actually were able to get the car started with out charge pipes connected? were talking about intercooler pipes right?

OK, lets quite BSing around here. I don't know what exactly your doing, but it doesn't sound very good.

YOU CAN'T START ANY MOTOR WITHOUT ALL THE PIPING CONNECTED...PERIOD DOT.

If this is what you did then that is your problem.

Fiznat had installed a complete standalone ECU and was working with a completely rebuilt motor. So it's just a tad...can you see the sarchasm...different then your setup.

If this isn't the case, then list every mod you've done and we'll be able to help you. Simply saying your car idles like crap and you need help doesn't give us any details we need to troubleshoot.

crav- you need to hook up the pipes including the intake and maf sensor. this is the way the ecu read air going into the engine and give the proper amount of fuel.

LOL. I think we found the problem....You wanted to test to see if there were any vacuum leaks but didn't bother connecting any of the intercooler piping? I think that qualifies as a rather MAJOR vacuum leak.

aww comeon guys give him a break hahaha... dont act like we all havnt made stupid mistakes before as well... I know I have!

Yeah Cav like everyone else says, if your engine is MAF sensed you HAVE to have the MAF connected, that is 100% without a doubt the source of your problem there. Hook up the piping with your sensors (and vaccum lines) installed, and then see how well she runs.

And for the record since you asked, the reason my engine ran so crappy was bad timing. My distribuitor was off a couple teeth-- pulling it out and resetting it correctly solved that problem completely.

Good luck man, haha and welcome to KA-Ting for the first time... fun, isnt it? haha

I'm sure he's a great kid, but you have to expect some pokes for a thread like this...It's just normal. In 2 years when he's helping to educate the noobs himself, I'll relink this thread so we can all see where we started.

thats not bad, my car wont start now either... maybe its got something to do with the fact that i have absolutely no exhaust whatsoever (its coming straight out of the head), and therefore none of my emissions is hooked up (or blocked off for that mater), or o2 sensor connected or anything.... at least I hope its that.

The car will actually run without the MAFS hooked up. It will run fine in closed loop.

IACV was def the problem here.lol
