Ugh, well, I posted this a few months ago, to no avail, so thought I might post again... Is there anyway to remove blotchiness from a flat black paintjob? I mean, what If I handsanded the entire thing in 1000 grit? I want it all the same color, and eliminate the blotchiness.... its making me hate my 240...

Well, it's not so much that I care about looking like a pimp, Id just really like to get a smooth flat black... especially up top where the sunroof is.

macco is goin to charge you like 100 bucks just for the primer, it wont be a whole lot. and the paint will be even coast to coast.

So you're saying I can go in with 100 bucks, unprepped how it is now, and end up with a completely flatblack primered car?

no you cant do that. first off, dont ever leave your car finished in primer. water seaps through primer, and will end up causing damage after a while. you can rattle can your car and have it all smooth looking. well, atleast i know i can. sounds like youre spraying to dry. try sanding the messed up areas with like 1200, and respray closer and slower. use actual paint and not primer! if you were using primer, that can also cause it too look dry and uneven. regular paint does a much better job finish wise.

Maaco SUCKS for prep work. If you take your car to Maaco fully unprepped your wheels, tires, seals, lights, glass, etc will have overspray on them and your paint will peel.

Do all the prep work yourself (ALL OF IT, sanding and masking) and have them spray it, and it will look great and last as long as you make it.

Just an FYI, but I am nowhere near a bodywork pro so you can take all my words with a grain of salt.

if u want to repair orange peels and some minor overspray.

you can go in with a 800 grit then 1000 and if u want 1500+. then polish it and see how it looks

i highly highly suggest to never cut clear with anything below 1200. 1500 is the magic number.
