It's tough since our unemployment rate in this area is running above the national rate.
Best suggestion I would have for you right now would be to take a day and drive up and down streets in the Rancho Cucamonga Distribution Center. Roughly the entire area between Day Creek and Milliken, Foothill down to 4th (Ontario Mills). Have resumes ready in case anyone has a "hiring" sign out but mainly write down company names and addresses. Go back home, look them up and see if any of them are hiring through their company websites (not all jobs get listed through places like Monster or careerbuilder). If you find something that looks interesting, use the online opportunity to learn about the company so you appear knowledgeable about them if you are fortunate to get to the interview stage.
I've been laid off twice in the last 8 years from corporate distribution management positions, once due to company takeover and the second time due to elimination of my division of the company. After two years of nothing we decided to focus on protecting my wife's career and retirement and I'm a stay-at-home dad. It's about time for me to start looking again and I'm definitely not looking forward to it. Most of my business network is in the Midwest and back East.
Good luck!
