Today i misshifted and revved the motor to 7210 according to my hks turbo timer. Now when i drive i hear the turbo a hell of a lot louder than it used to before i misshifted and it really bugs me because i think i fu**ed something up. So i came home and checked to see if the turbo seperated from the manifold no. So i took of my valve cover off and theres a sh** load of oil in there but more on the intake side and not really any on the exhast side. So did i f*** something up or am i being perinoid.

95silvia14, it doesn't seem that you screwed anything up, the rev limiter on our engines is at 7500 just so you know. You can check the rocker arms because those will typically break at high RPM over revs, but everything looks fine. Where the oil sits after your engine stops is irrelevent as long as you're getting good oil pressure.

The noise could be just a gasket or flange leaking. There are at least 6 flanges through the exhaust system that could leak.

Engine to ManifoldManifold to Turbo inletTurbo outlet to dump pipe (has o2 sensor)Dump Pipe to Down pipeDown pipe to Catalytic converterCatalytic converter to Catback Exhaust

Check and tighten all bolts/nuts to make sure there is no leak. You will notice significant hesistation and lag if the leak was BEFORE the turbo or O2 sensor. If it's after, it will just be noisy and make putt-putt or farting noises, depending on how bad the leak is. Make sure everything is tight before you blow out your gaskets and have to take it all apart again.

Please say you used the lock tabs when your reinstalled those nuts. I spent months dealing with exhaust leaks until my turbo blew out the gasket. Those won't stay on without them.

yeah get those locking plates for the nuts. its going to be the best 20$ you spend in your motor. you will keep getting leaks and blown gaskets till you buy those plates and install them. phse 2 has them for 9.95 each. you will need 2. get then OEM nissan turbo gasket. and a Mr. gasket. Copper gasket for the exhaust manifold. your motor will thank you.
