So I'm doing some city driving on a hot summer day when all of a sudden I come over the top of a hill and the car in front of me is in a dead stop. Go to press brakes and low and behold no brake pressure...the pedal went to the floor and I'm still doing 30 mph. Luckily there was a handicap access on the curb so I just jumped it and went into somones yard without damaging anything or anyone.

I need a new brake master cylinder cuz the seals in my stock are shot. I'm short on cash atm and can't afford the 250-300 dollar stock replacement so I need a swap or cheaper aftermarket/alternate.

Question: Is there a direct bolt alternate bmc that can fit my 1996 240sx with auto trans.? Will a 300zx bmc work without modification...? or am I s.o.l and have to dish out the cash? Would really appreciate some info on this cuz its my daily driver.

Thanks for the response. Can anyone else confirm the 300 bmc would work on the 240? I would assume it would have to be same year right?

I'm pretty sure the 300 MC has a different brake bias. Not totally positive... but I think that's why people buy it when they go to 300 calipers.

PS: I think I got my brake MC for like $80ish. I don't remember where. Possibly Auto Parts Warehouse, but don't buy from them the suck d***.

if your paying 300 for the master your getting ripped off or buying direct from the dealer...almost any part store out there should be half that or less.

as far as the 300 master goes go for it but the breaks might be a little to bitey for you . it was made to support a set of multi piston calipers at 4 corners. then again some people dig locking the wheels and getting sideways...guilty
