In my 89 hatch, the fuel tank is holding excessive pressure. I replaced the fuel pump a month ago, along with a new o-ring to replace the old streched out one. I instantly noticed more pressure behind the cap after the new oring was installed. A week after install I got a line leaking. I replaced both of the fuel lines for the tank. Still had a lot of pressure behind the gas cap after that. And today, fuel started leaking from around the oring for the fuel pump assembly as soon as the fuel pump got power. I had less than 1/2 a tank of fuel at that time. The oring that was just 3 weeks old is now streched out as if it was a few years old.

What should would be causing this? gas cap? charcol canister?

Any help is appreciated guys, I am near stumped.

Thanks!

charcoal canister is the only thing that deals with excess pressure from the fuel tank. check the line come from the tank to the canister make sure it not plugged up or pinched off or something. also could be that the canister is plugged up

sorry, I forgot to mention that i did disconnect the charcol canister to see if this would happen again(left the line coming from tank uncapped where it connects to the canister). and I unplugged that three days ago.

Thanks!
