2006 diesel manual pathfinder
I just replaced the euro 3 engine with a newer euro 4
Used the euro 3 flyweel, complete fuel system : rail pump injectors and egr.
Reset ecu.
It works!
But runs rich..clicking sounds and black smoke.
Not major but not fun to hear..
What did I miss in the swap?

Erez, unfortunately most of us in North America have probably never even heard of a diesel option for these vehicles. I'm more of an Otto cycle guy myself. My general understanding is that you have some other physical limitations to your project.
Not sure of the specs of these engines, but are they the same - bore, stroke, engine sensors, camshaft profiles and all?
If the engines are different, then you probably need more than an ECU reset (assuming a reset is just disconnecting the battery). I think reflashing is what they call it here, where they write different parameters in the ECU.
Keep us posted.
