help, engine problem

1992 300zx N/A 5Speed, 140,000 miles... heres the problem...engine started to sputter, bucking the car, surges from the intake while going down the road, happened a couple of times around 3500rpms, finally happened again and the car will not do n e thing, i havent really had time to diagnos the problem, fuel???? timing???? electrical????

timing belt was changed 2 months ago (I did not do it)

Welcome to Nico!it's tought when a car fails intermitantly, the PTU can cause similar effects and is a common problem and so can the fuel pump and or fuel pump control module, adn they are kinda expensive to go blindly replacing

im actually in the process of buying the car, the story i told up there is what he told me happened, he doesnt really know much about cars and wouldnt dare touch anything under the hood, so i assumed it would be fuel pump/fuel pump relay, but the more i read up more people lean towards the PTU. i figure if im getting the car cheap its worth it if its something like that

and you might consider trying used parts so your not out much if they don't fix the problem
