help, engine dies evertime i shift!!

okay i just got my motor built, head port and polish, cams, valves, pistons rods etc etc. problem is every time i shift gears the motor dies and i dont know what the problem is!! any ideas anyone? timing is off but i havent had the chance to fix that yet. i dont think timing would do that and also no vacuum leak cuase i already checked it, ecu is not throwing any codes. its a fresh built motor should it even do that!! i am stumped.. any ideas would really help thanks

If you know the timing is off start by getting it within specs and get back to us.

my old coupe did the same thing after i did a cam swap

also i guess check the iacv and ignition timing wouldnt hurt

Timing can cause an engine to die. My coupe had horrible timing problems it would idle rough as hell and when i put it in drive,neutral,or first(its auto) it would die. So try fixing your timing and then see how it goes.

I know a guy with a busted up eclipse thats stuck in second and to reverse he has to hold the clutch with his right foot open the door and push the car back with his left footask him how much he likes "flintstoneing that b****" and then revaluate how much you appreciate shifting.
