Your alternator is probably on it's way out. Do something about it quick before you roast your battery by repeatedly jumping it. Any idea why your battery died to begin with?

thanks for the input... i replaced the alternator with a 90a s14 unit, and also upgraded to a new optima redtop.... all working properly now

Good move on the alternator.

Depending on the size of your amp, you should also consider putting a capacitor near the power input. Capacitors store energy and deliver the surge current required by the amp when you have hard-hitting bass. This will also make sure that your lights don't dim whenever your bass hits.

Remember: P = IV (Power = Current * Voltage)If your amp can't get the current necessary, you are getting less than its best performance.
