Hey thanks in advance... code 13 is supposed to trip the engine light right? It doesnt, I know the light works because it comes on as dummy or when I do the ECU diagnostics. Otherwise it pretends nothing is wrong. I also disconnected the o2 sensors and that didnt trip any codes. I checked the harness and the temp sensor and they all check out OK but code 13 is everpresent. I dont know what to do anymore  the car dumps fuel and smells rich and smokey and wont idle when properly warmed.

How often does that happen? From my understanding the ecu is reliable and shouldnt be causing trouble, I reset it (left it unpluged for a week) but that didnt do anything, still code 13. Again the harness and sensor check out ok.

When I check the consult, with the sensor unplugged, the temp gradually rises to operating ~80C but with it plugged in it reads 40C. I checked the resistance on the sensor itself and it reads properly. I guess the next step is finding a test ECU.

ECU, with o2 sensors disconnected and code 13, still doesnt trigger the engine light, it also doesnt trigger the o2 sensor codes. Could this really be a shorted ECU? It wont clear any codes I tried the pot. method, jumper method and I already left it disconnected for a week. Anyone have similar problems?

Like engine light not showing when there is a code that would turn it on?
Not registering the fact that the o2 sensors are disconnected?
Codes will not clear?

This is very bizarre to me :gotme

the ecu isn't a comon point of failure but everything breaks form time to time, that fact taht you have readings that are self contradictory leads me to suspect the ecu, I recomend locating another ecu and swapping ti out and see if the issues persist

I agree, Its going to be tough to find someone in the area, sadly I dont have that kind of money to buy a new ECU but since I want to get an upgraded Z1 eprom I might as well right?

it is normal for ECU to slowly go from 20C (i think, maybe 25C) to 80C in 'pretend' warmup simulation when the coolant temp sensor is disconnected. so that is normal, its a form of failsafe if ur coolant temp is disconnected/dodgy.

celcius!? ugh, anyhow, the coolant temp sensor tells the ecu how warm the engine is to allow for cold start enrichment, the cooolant temp sender feeds the gauge

Correct, and its a b**** to start the car when its warm with it disconnected. Im bringing the car to the mechanic to check it out and scan everything test all the connections, incase I missed something. The codes still wont clear. Ive replaced the sensor, the plug tested continuity and resistance and all checks out allright but the ecu keeps tripping code 13. The engine light DOES NOT come on. :wtf2:

my ecu was telling me AT Control or something like that. I figured AT is Automatic Transmission... I have a manual transmission. Its a Z1 Upgrade ECU.
