I just bought a 1995 240sx and it ran beautifully the whole way home wich was a three hour trip. I parked it in my garage and let it sit for three days now the car doesn't start. The engine cranks and its getting spark but it won't fire. before i bought the car it had a small oil leak but since ive driven it home it has increased to about a 1/4 quart a day is this related? i don't know what to do and i have looke for hours to find a similar instance but nothing. please help.......

He said it cranks. So the starter works. IF it is getting spark than it is not get fuel.

There are literally a million thread on this exact issue. It could be anything and its probably better to consult the FSM instead of getting a million ideas about what it could be.

could be fuel pump or a bad spark plug.

my car used to have a starting issue.it would crank but not turn over.it would eventually start after about 15 or so seconds of cranking.one of my spark plugs was f*** so i changed em and it starts just fine.

my old supra used to crank forever, found out the fuel pump was in horrible shape.changed it and it worked.s*** was so bad, people on supraforums were calling it a relic off of the titanic. ...my friend G throwin' up the shaka! lol

ahh, good times getting that car started.

(sorry for the slight threadjack OP)

but yea, search!!!someones bound to have had the same issue before!GL

I would be worried about that 1/4 quart a day oil habit your car has developed. Probably more so than the "not starting" issue.

Check the battery. You never know... I went through the same thing on my car. It happened to my s13, and it turned out I had a bad alternator (they go bad after sitting for a long while)... so after driving it for a while, the battery was eventually drained and the motor had a weak spark. Good luck.

wouldn't be the battery. Weak battery = no turning over.

Yea like the guys said before it's probably low pressure. Maybe your pump is bad or you have a small leak somewhere.

I would do this#1.) Check sensors (because something could be wrong with the maf? who knows).#2.) Check the fuel pump (It might be rusted and if the gass thats in the car has been in there since before you got it, it might have eatin some of the away)#3.) Check the fuel rail (There might be somethin stuck in there?)#4.) Check the injectors (Sometimes injectors can just go bad. My front 2 injectors went out about a month ago and my car wouldn't start. If you have a meter that'd be the best way to test their functionality.)

Thats just my .02.. But i believe that somethin is up with the fuel delivery.

lolz s*** happens.. you'll find the problem eventually. Good luck

If the fuel pump doesn't turn on when cranking, have someone hit it with a broom stick. For serious, it will get an old pump moving. If it primes and starts the car, you know what to replace.

Have you checked the fuel filter? How much fuel exactly do you have? When mine car is parked on the left side of the street with a quarter tank of gas it won't start, also check the fuse box under the hood look for the eng cont fuse, anyways like I was saying, try to disconnect the fuel filter and see the flow and color of the fuel that comes out, we're gonna get ya though this bro!

hahahaha there are some really funny answers in here. Learn what you're talking about before postingHonestly your problem could be a number of things from spark to fuel to compression to something electrical.I would start by pulling the spark plugs out and making sure they're in good condition. Then with the plugs out crank the engine over and make sure you're getting fuel.If you are then check to see if you're getting spark

good luck

Seriously if you would have just used the FSM and searched around a little bit you would have found your answer alot sooner than posting your problem. Instead of finding the problem you got every ones theory of what it could be which was no help. im really surprised the mods didnt kill this thread when it started.
