Help downgrading my power antenna

So I've searched through a bunch of threads and can't really find anything on what I want to do.

I want to loose the 8 foot power antenna (maybe an exaggeration) and replace it with one of the various short antennas available on ebay and in auto parts stores. What I'm not sure of is if I need to remove the power antenna motor and buy a bracket/connector or can I simply screw the short antenna onto the top of the power antenna, since I've already removed the mast? If so, I assume I could simply unplug the wiring harnesses from the motor but leave the antenna itself connected and have a normal signal?

I know I can't be the only person who's wanted to do this. Somebody help me out.

I used a Saturn's antenna(it was what was around at the time).Made a bracket for it.The antennas top is removable and u can put a short one on if u like.Removed all of the stock power antenna.

So I can grab a manual antenna receiver off pretty much whatever is sitting around at pullapart?

Just find a factory non-power antenna. I keep wanting to put a fox tail on mine.

i have 2 or 3 s14 manual antennas ill trade for power antennas.

S2000 antenna fits perfectly on s13 coupe. Remove the mast and screw in.

has to be a manual antenna to start with. you cant screw anything into a power one. there has to be threads to go into.

I shaved mine and put this in the window, it works pretty good.

I'd love to shave it if I had any body work skills, but I don't.

I'm looking for a factory non-powered antenna. I'm not sure how a S14 antenna would fit on my S13 coupe. I do have the power antenna uninstalled now. The mast is broken, though, so I'm not sure if it works or not.

If all else fails I think I'll go to pull a part and just look for something that would work.

I'm thinking about shaving it off and putting on a small shark fin antenna, not sure how it'd look though. I'm thinking of it on a hatch with a lip spoiler at the window though

^^^ the trunk lock passes though the center plastic piece how did you shave it?

Just pull the whole motor and antenna out, tape up loose connections, then put an autozone antenna where the old one was... Thats wut i did an it works just fine.
