HELP! Desperately trying to find a man from Georgia who bought our 1990 240SX!

Hey! Back in August of 2005, I posted an ad on this website, trying to sell our 1990 240SX [we're living in Brandon, Florida] and a young man named "Dan" I think drove down from Georgia with a friend and paid us $400 for the car.

But the Florida tax collectors office thinks WE still own the car and they are requiring that we renew the tag and show proof of insurance!

Unfortunately, I can't seem to locate any paperwork re: the sale, as we signed over and gave Dan the original title, of course.

Please ... if anyone can help us, please do! We are desperate!

Dan said that he was going to use the car as a project and post its progress here, but I'm not sure he has actually done that.

I am not quite sure about the laws in GA, but in CT all you have to do is tell them that the car is no longer in your posession. Also, if you had a license plate on the 240 and you have transferred it since the sale, you can prove it by showing them paperwork from the car that the license plate is on now, to show that the other car is no longer in your posession. You do not have to pay taxes on a car that is not registered. good luck!
