I bought the brand new car Sept 4th and there were scratches on the shift knob, look liked from a ring maybe when it was being detailed. The dealership offered me a new shift knob after completing 1000 miles on the car, I said no if they wanted me to pick up the car then they would replace it immediately. They did, I think they popped of the brushed silver piece and put on a new one.
But, only 2 weeks later I had on a white gold band and was sitting on the passenger side (not even driving) and grabbed the shift knob slightly and it caused a deep groove into the silver part again. Now I am wondering if they may have given me the original knob after all, possibly buffing it out?
Has anyone else had a problem with scratches on the knob? I take very good care of the vehicle and am always trying to prevent scratches on the interior components. I was really surprised of this happening.
Please let me know either way...I am sure that the dealership would rather not deal with this, but I honestly think it may be defective or have no protective clear coat over the brushed silver.
Thanks to all that reply.
