Im stuck on deciding between a 240sx and a 300 zx. My friend says the weight in the 300zx is a major downside for the car and that since it is that heavy the 240sx will be a better choice. All i need to know is which one will end up going faster and is the weight in the 300zx and big deal???

All depends what you want. Either one can be made to be very fast. The 240sx is more of a sporty car where as the 300ZX is a sports car.

2nd on that..

I prefer a Z. test each car, see what you like. The Z is definately faster, it depends which style you prefer, which ride your more comfortable with , an dhwat type of guy you are.

The 240 is definitely a cheaper alternative to the Z but I don't think you'll be disappointed with one, and they also make wide selection of parts them. I'd go with the Z though, I've drive both cars and hands down the Z is better. Both cars though are tuneable and can be made faster.

The 300zx is the better choice. I don't have mine yet but after driving 240s and then a 300zx I decided that the 300zx is awesome. The non turbo doesn't have break neck speed but it drives like a new BMW.

I've had a 91 240sx, 1995 240sx, a 1990 300zx NA, and a 1992 NA. The 300zx is just flat out a better car. Ths shifting is more precise, it's quieter it handles better, accelerates quicker etc, etc. And then there are the looks. The Z32 is one of automobile history's timeless designs, true inspiration.

The downside is the cost of everything. The car, the maintenance, parts etc etc.

240SX stock motor is ok, but its unrefined. But there are so many engine choices out there, KA-T, SR, RB with a ton of aftermarket support. They are relatively cheap, and fairly easy to work on (that's why I have two).

It just boils down to personal choice, but try to drive both and get a feel for them. I suspect you'll like the 300 better.

Good luck.

This one is really a drivers choice type of issue. The 300 performs better in stock trim, but the 240 is cheaper to upgrade, with plenty of engine alternatives and a huge aftermarket. I own a 91 240, my brother owns a 93 300. If I had to choose between them to buy I dont think I could make a clear cut decision. I guess it could depend on how muchyou want to spend?

actually the TT is chepar to upgrade, it's amazing how much hp some welding tips can yield (I am not suggesting people do this but it has been done) the TT has more potential per dollar of mods, the basic intake exhaust and ecu mods might cost a little more but the end result is far more than you'll see from comperable dollars spent on a 240sx

Whenever a 300ZX vs. 240SX debate comes up, I always see it as apples vs. oranges. They are two different cars. Nissan made the 240SX to be a cheaper sporty car for the people who couldn't afford a nice sports car, and the 300ZX was made as more of a gran touring car, it will put you in comfort while cruising around, or if you want to go all out, it will turn into a aggressive sports car if you want it to.
