Earlier this evening, I located the A/C I have been looking for. Contacted the salesman, informed him I will be a VPP buyer, and wanted him to get me final numbers; I would then provide him a deposit over the phone to secure vehicle.

20 or so minutes later he called me back and told me that A/C are not eligible for VPP discounts. He said his manager equated it to GM offering discounts on corvettes....it just doesn't happen.

HELP!!! I have been hunting around the region and this is the first dealer that has rejected the VPP!!! We just verified on the nissan website that the only Nissan/Infiniti vehicle not honored with VPP is the G37.

Have to wait until Monday now, will let you know what happens. My father is going to call Union Pacific on Monday morning and explain our situation.

I understand dealers don't want to sell at invoice, but due to the agreement with Union Pacific, don't they have to honor the program if the A/C is considered an eligible vehicle?

I don't think they have to honor it. There was only a couple dealers in the whole Detroit/Ann Arbor area that offered VPP pricing. I think they can exclude cars. Good luck though!

The salesman acknowledged that they were a participating dealer.

The only car excluded I can find on the insidenissan.com website is the new G.

This is going to get interesting, because we think they have to honor it. If its not listed by nissan/UP as an excluded car and they ARE a participating dealer, they have agreed to sell any car OTHER than the new G at a pre-negotiated price.

I went to the website - and saw the G37 exclusion - however, that doesn't mean it is the only vehicle excluded. I think the G37 is listed that way because it has not Launched yet - so in order to prevent potential customers from beating the website to death trying to get the VPP - when Nissan knows it will not be offered.

Reading further into the website gets you this...

Q. How can I find out if VPP incentives are being offered on the car I'm interested in?A. For information on current VPP incentives, click on the Incentives on the left or call VPP headquarters at (800) 299-4753.

You need a user id and password to "click" on the incentives. The way the website is structured it would appear that by clicking on the incentive link it will tell you which vehicles are eligible.

Thanks for responding. Here is what follows the the prompt for username and password (which we have):: ( I omitted a table on customer cash to save space since that isn't the issue)

August VPP Incentives - 8/1/07 - 9/4/07

* Nissan - Incentives valid for 8/1/2007 through 9/4/2007 * Infiniti - Incentives valid for 8/1/2007 through 8/31/2007

Please note that during this incentive period, the VPP retail core incentive can not be used in conjunction with a special NMAC APR rate if available (Please refer to the notations listed below). Also Nissan North America reserves the right to modify the VPP incentive amount without notice.

Please be advised that Customer Cash programs for Nissan vehicles are included in the following VPP incentives. Note, reduced Customer Cash programs in conjunction with a special NMAC APR rate may be offered. (see the dealer for details)

For reference, Nissan and Infiniti new vehicles may be leased through VPP. However, if a customer leases through Nissan Motor Acceptance Corporation (NMAC) or Infiniti Financial Services (IFS), a special lease incentive or lease support may apply, and the vehicle will not be eligible for the VPP retail core incentive. Should you have any questions concerning the above, please consult with your dealer when you go into make your vehicle lease.

I believe that last line says it all:

- Eligible MY08 Nissan Vehicles: Altima Coupe, Armada, Pathfinder, Titan, Versa Sedan, Versa Hatchback

The program assistance number is a Mon-Fri only line. My father will call on Monday morning to get this straightened out. Based on the verbiage, I think I can get the car at VPP discount price. I would call, but they might not speak with me because technically he is the employee that will be receiving the discount. (he's buying it for me)

I'll post as soon as I get the word. At least one A/C purchaser on NICO used VPP. I believe his name was Sewright.??? If that's correct and you're out there, please drop a post with as many VPP purchase details as you possibly can. I would greatly appreciate it. This is the car I want, it won't last long; and I don't want to get hosed.
