I have a 2006 M45 Sport and my RAS/VDC/Slip lights came on (just while driving - nothing happened). I thought I needed brakes, so I replaced my brakes rotors and brake fluid. BTW - I didn't really need brakes, but my rotors were warped so I replaced everything. The lights stayed on. I took it to the dealer and they tried everything (so they said). They have my car for almost 2 months and replaced ICC distance sensor, abs controller, brake light switch, RAS control module, instrument cluster and recalibrate the RAS position sensors. Nothing worked, so they said it was my aftermarket remote start that was the problem (it has been in there for over a year). I took it back to Best Buy to have it removed and the technician said he seen nothing wrong w/the system or the wires. The dealer said this should fix the problem and the lights will go off. The lights stayed on. I brought it back to the dealer and they couldn't reset the lights and they said the remote start system must have ruined my wiring harness and I need a new one. $3500. If my wiring harness was bad, wouldn't other lights come on? Where do I go from here?

The codes are:

C1137 - RAS CIRCUIT - TIME 0
C1145 - YAW RATE SENSOR - TIME 0
C1185 - ACC CONT - TIME 0
C1A04 - ABS/TCS/VDC CIRC - TIME 2
C1A18 - LASER AIMING INCMP - TIME 2
C1A26 - ECD MODE MALF - TIME 0
C1911 - MOTOR VOLTAGE (LOW VOLTAGE) - TIME 0
C1929 - VDC - TIME 0
B2551 - STEERING LOCK UNIT - TIME 111
B2553 - IGN POWER CIRCUIT - TIME 111
B2554 - ACC POWER CIRCUIT - TIME 111
B2559 - PDU - TIME 111
B2560 - START POW SUP CIRC - TIME 111
B2118 - TILT SENSOR - TIME 67

How does the car run? Is it still smooth with just lights on or is the motor running rough?
Have they not tried another ECU?

The car runs fine - motor is perfect. The ABS doesn't work.

I vote either ECU or alternator.

Are these repairs in fact covered by a warranty? If not, break your relationship with the dealer & find a cheaper independent shop. Try to get your money back from the dealer, possibly even taking them to small claims court for the negligent way they've handled your repairs.

It is anyone's guess at this point. Serious problems are a rare occurrence with these cars, so not many of us have experience with what is causing your symptoms.

The life lesson to take away from this, unless your repairs are free thanks to a warranty, is to start with the cheapest possibility & work your way up. I've learned this the hard way... for example replacing a battery & alternator when it turned out to be corrosion on the main wire from the battery (and was fixed with a .25 cent piece of sandpaper in 5 minutes).

any sort of voltage issue would easily cause all these problems. my X5 was doing the same thing, sat at BMW for two weeks, had a 2500 control module replaced and drove it home it still was acting crazy. Me and a buddy hook it up to a voltage reader and clearly the car could not maintain voltage, replaced the alternator and it was fine. The dealer will do anything to scare you and take your money

I'm in the same boat. 3 lights on, car runs fine. Showing 3 fault codes. C1116, C1185, C1109. I've replaced breaks, checked fluid levels, etc. I was hoping it was just a wheel speed sensor, but it appears not. Very annoying, because I REALLY depend on cruise control to keep me from getting tickets, but I can't use it with the lights on.

Same exact thing happened to my altima. They told me remote start ruined my main harness. Took it to another mechanic and found out that the installer blew out the entire fuse box and rigged it to still start up somehow. Replaced the fusebox under the hood and it was good as new.

Lol, I couldn't even imagine that. I would go ballistic and go looking for that installer. The audacity of an installer screwing up the electronics and then jury rigging it so it will run with no indication. Who knows what could have happened because things were bypassed and rerouted to keep it hidden from you. I'm mad for you.

I feel bad for you. I second TDot I am also mad for you. Wish I could get my hands on that dealer. These cars are nearly bullet proof.

I was very mad. I didn't know for 2 years that he did this until one day the car wouldnt start. I got the shop to pay for all the repairs and refund the original install. Funny thing is, the day after I got my car back after it being fixed, the CVT transmission died at 27k miles. I do not miss my altima at all.

I had the same problem, I went thru the car front to back, checked out all the wheel sensors, turns out my front drivers side abs/wheel sensor was the culprit, changed it and it cleared up all the problems. I had the same problem would turn on after some driving. Check your sensors

I think you have a problem with the CANbus wiring in your car. I would look for shorts. The combination of error codes doesn't seem like a wheel speed sensor issue.

have them check/change! the "camshaft angle sensor". I had the same problem with mine and after they changed it all my lights went off and my car has been great ever since.

Why be a doctor? If I had gone to BMW's training school I'd be making the $500K per year and the dumb arrogant, egotistical doctor would be paying me to fix his fancy/dancy new car instead of the other way around. We need less self-loving doctors and more highly educated car mechanics walking around in clean white suits.
