Hi everyone, I need some help.I went to my local "city garage" where one of the services was to replace my ATF oil. The last time I had it done, it was Max Life ATF. This time around, they replaced it with CVT Fluid. They told me they can use it in 2003+ altimas. But my owner manual says to use Matic-d. ( i suppose Max Life is a good enough equivelent). I called back city garage, and they said it is fine to use CVT.

May big concern is should I bring it back? Is CVT fluid ok to use in a 2005 altima (non-cvt car)? Can they really flush the old stuff out and replace it with the matic-d style fluid?

Is my car hosed? Thanks!

I suspect there are several "CVT fluids" available, so we'd need to know which one was used before even trying to figure out if it's specified as Nissan Matic-D compatible/comparable. Hopefully you have documentation from them that specifies what was used, so that you can hold them accountable if this does toast your transmission.

From what I understand there is only one nissan CVT fluid, and only 2 other companies that make it as well... I believe its NS-2 CVT fluid...

Its much more expensive than reg transmission fluid, id drain and refill... or go there and make them do a flush and refill.
