Hello, I replaced my old transmission mount with a replacement unit, the mount fits on the crossmember just right, but I can't put the crossmember back, there is a huge gap between the crossmember and the holes on the driver side. Is this suppose to happen and there specific steps ihave to follow to reinstalling the crossmember? I tighten the transmission mount with the crossmember first, then i lined up the two bolts for the mount and transmission, and now im stuck because i can't get the crossmember back on. Please help.

sounds like the chassis and/or powertrain might be flexing some...

is the car jacked up evenly?

You'll see extra holes on cross member. It's hard to explain and I can't find any images, so let me try my best. You plug a metal rod with pencil like tip to that hole and align with a hole on the car and push it up. Once you start the thread you are good to go.

If that's the case, OP shouldn't work on the car and have someone do the job. I hope that's not the case.

It should be pretty obvious to the layman that one side of the trans x-member mount is lower than the other, the same height difference is also reflected in the x-member. Installing it backwards doubles this height difference.

Something like this:

Actually, no you can flip an auto trans cross member and install on manual transmission. Problem is only 2 bolts will fit. I've seen some people doing that. So, no it's flat on s13.
