Just picked up a 94Q with 156,000 that needs some TLC. Have gotten most things fixed, however can't seem to figure out the check engine light that indicates "injector leak". The car runs fine before, during and after the check engine light illuminates. It illuminates only when the engine RPM's exceed 2,250 at cruise---will go all day at 2,100 cruise and no check engine light!!! Regular city driving with acceleration and deceleration at any RPM does not trigger the light.

The car just passed Calif. smog test and ran really clean--- CO% was .04 and .01 at 1,500RPM. AF mixture was 14.7. The plugs have 55,000 miles on them, O2 sensors are original (maybe shot??), and the fuel injectors all ohm out fine at 11.7.

Since Dennis has said in previous posts that CEL signifies something electrical is bad, how can a non electrical item such as a leaky fuel injector relate?? I don't have a consult, and don't want to pull the plenum like the manual says to check for leaky injectors. Further I can't figure out how to check the o2 sensors using the ECU in mode II like the manual states. Any easy 20 minute fixes??? I do have 2 new O2 sensors in the garage. Thanks in advance for your help. Also looking for a repair manual if anyone has one for sale.

The California injector leak code is created by an out of tolerance O2......if the mixture is too rich it assumes the cause is an injector as it assumes you have changed the O2 every 60,000 miles per manufactuers recommendation.Change O2 and the problem will go away.Measure the cross counts with a Consult II..........the unit below 10 counts per second is the culprit.

The tech was right again. Replaced both O2 sensors this morning and drove many miles on cruise and no light!!! (It would light within 3-4 miles previously) Now for a couple of aspirin, several band aids, and something for the hundred or so small scratches on my wrists and forearms. These things are a pleasure to drive, and pain to work on!!! In spades.
