About 11:30 I went outside to move my dads car so my mom could park in the garage (she can't drive stick). I started the car sunk the clutch and put reverse and the car jumped back (foot still on the clutch), stick pops out of reverse then into neutral, the car stalled out and to top it all off the clutch pedel stayed to the floor. I could pull it up but it's like a light switch now. if i put it up it stays up, if i put it to the floor it stays to the floor. You could move the lever that the clutch cable from the pedel hooks up to on the transmission but the clutch won't disingauge (sp). My dad would push the lever up or down and i would try to crank and put the car in gear and it does the same thing. It just jump and stalls out. Oh by the way it's a 1990 Jetta. Any thoughts of what it could be?

Look for a puddle of white stuff under the car....

Check the throughout bearing, it's an often cause of clutch problems, I dont know what hell it does though

or maybe it's JUST TIME FOR A NEW CLUTCH.

sounds like clutch hydralics somewhere, check for broken lines or faulty slave cylinder. check reservoir, see if your losing fluid.

If I remember correctly VW ran a cable operated clutch that year. If it is a cable system, either the cable went, or the pressure plated broke. If it is a hydraulic system then you might have just lost hydraulics.

similar thing has happened to me, i couldnt get the car to any gear when it was on, then i had to jam it up there and when i did, the car would try to move when its in gear even when i had the clutch all the way to the floor and when i would let it go, the car wants to stall. Basically what i did was lift up the clutch with my hands and now it works fine, if not better then b4
