 Hi guys

Had a maf sensor problem, car wasn't even starting with maf car ws on jacks for a year and a half. New maf sensor installed, now car starts but shakes violently, rev it and I can hear a clonking/clunking noise from engine as well as rapid ticking form injectors But at idle, engine shakes. :wtf2:

Setup: stage 2 srt up, t28. Injectors I think 444cc. Apexi airfilter. Fmic straight through exhaust.

Now, I previously installed a gt28 and the clunking noises started from there. Engine would not idle with maf connected. Take off maf, safe mode all good. So new maf installed now. Car starts idles but:
a) shakes bad
B) clunking noise as well as fast ticking throttle body side.

I've taken off gt28 and installed the t28 back on.
Expert advice required pls as this is now getting pretty long winded
I can't get the car our cause the clinking/clonking is intermittent & don't want to risk any damage
No codes on ecu checked fuel.pressure, coils and new spark plugs all good. Battery drains if left disconnected don't know why? :gotme

I'm not a turbo guy, so I have ideas, but don't know that any are any good. MAF, TPS, O2 sensors, Timing, Crank and Cam Angle sensors, and a clean IACV seem to affect idle. Pulling codes would have been my starting point, but you checked I guess. Maybe check vacuum and plumbing for turbo and boost control. Is the fuel in the tank no good anymore? Maybe a ground wire isn't connected tight? We have an FSM under service manuals for the CA18 I think. Might be in another language though... Have you looked there?

A clunk on the top end is pretty generic for a description. I can't hear or see your car. Please elaborate on the clunking. How many clunks, when it clunks, where it clunks (please get close to the source to identify location), what the clunk sounds like (metal hitting metal?), etc.

Just on that note forgot to mention that I tried fitting a GT28 turbo which I git on and started the car and thats when this pinging started to happen prior to my install of the gt28 it was at least running fine but it's therafter I put the gt28 this issue started
I've now put back the normal t28 turbo nut it's still clunking rattling from the intake side

Are you sure you have all of the electrical connectors in the correct place? There's one plug on the intake side that can be swapped for one of the injectors if you're not careful. Also, have you checked the cam timing? It sounds like it may have jumped a tooth.

Well what releif after double checking my wired & connectors cleaning gapping sparkys & fuel I started the beast & had to rev it quite frequently with quick boost revs & a whole lit of black smoke just puffed out like black smog but I think that must've been some carbon build up that cleared out & woala..... Yes. The symptoms havr gone....
Thanks all guys.

Good deal. I was going to ask where your MAF was plumbed in, and if you had any leaks after it.
