Help! changing rear main seal

Im stumped on how to get it out! I've been messing with it but it still wont come out. I've pried on it with the screw driver but it still wont come out. it's breaking up in pieces. I believe I f'd up the oil seal retainer. how would I even replace that piece?? :help

I did. did exactly what it said. Tried prying on it but the more I pry on the seal, the more I mess up the oil seal retainer.

nevermind. the metal piece is part of the seal. now i have to take the whole damn oil pan off just to replace oil seal reatainer.

No need to take the oil pan off. I learned from my mistake. Use a gasket/seal puller that looks like a flat hammer with two curved points. Autozone has it. $7 I believe.

Well if you're gonna take the engine apart, do it like this.

1. remove lower oil pan2. remove baffle around oil pick up3. remove upper oil pan4. undo the 6 bolts holding the back piece that has the rear crank seal5. get a screw driver and push from the back of the oil seal6. tap in new seal

Thanks guys. I pretty much did what you said 180fan. Now im sure there isn't a leak. It was a bi#tch doing it on the pallet. I said, fuK it and paid 50$ for an engine stand. SOOOOO much easier.
