Just went outside to take my car to the carwash, turn the key to the sweet sound of nothing.

Nothing has been changed since the car last started and ran perfectly except removal of coolant overflow tank.

Fuel pump comes on, dash lightsup, no clicking sound, no cranking. Battery is charged.

help please!

Homie I say check your starter plug to see if it's still plugged. You may have accidentally unplugged it from the starter somehow. But if that's not the problem, I dunno what is wrong.

check your battery connections? those brass connections that come from the factory are absolutely horrible. Invest in a wire brush to clean the inside out...if it's anything like mine though, expect that after cleaning out the inside of the clamp exactly 1 week later your car wont start again...i just replaced both clamps with generic ones (with a bit of constructive work you can attach all the cables that go to the positive side (big 4 ga and 2 12s or 10s without any major work...i'll post pictures sometime of how i did it) just my thoughts :)ast

Sometimes there is enough juice in the battery to light up accesories but not to juice the starter... however, I dont think that is the problem since you arent even getting a clicking sound.

Do a series of things to double check the problem.

Check wires going to starter.... yes, it is on the passenger side, located on the engine side of the transmission bellhousing. Semi large cylinder shape with wires attached to the back end of it. You'll have to lift the car to do this.

Try to jump the car with another car... who knows

Check ALL fuses.

check ALL wires from battery, specially grounds.

Check neutral position sensor on the transmission, if it is out it wont let the car start.

good luck!n

Except for throwing parts at it, you'll probably have to get a multi-meter on it. If you're not hearing clicking, then either the battery is really weak (doesn't sound like it), the relay is bad (possible) or the relay's just not getting power (and who knows what else).

Pop it in neutral and try push-starting it...it it does come on, then it's going to be your starter thats bad.

well I did get it to start lastnight by drift-starting. So i am now sure it is the starter or starter wiring. I dont see the starter on ANY of the wiring diagrams, what relays control it? i guess it still could be a clutch pedal switch, or neural switch, but knowing my luck, it'll be something much more expensive.

So, can i use a KA starter?

Your starter is fine.

Get under your car and find your starter. There are 3 wires coming off of it. +12, Ground, Signal. The signal cable is notorious for coming off, and it comes off a lot. The KA starter uses a different plug, so on an SR, that plug doesn't clip in, it just sticks in and will pull out with any force. I wrapped mine with electrical tape when it wouldn't start a couple times.

I am 99% sure that is your problem.
