There is a 90 300zx tt locally with 100k on it for $2100, the body is really clean and the car is in great shape. The owner said it drove fine and then one day went out to start it and it wont start. I spent some time looking at it and it will crank over and cough and sputter for a second or two and shut off. I pulled the following codes:

11- Camshaft Angle Sensor
13- Engine coolant temp sensor
21- Ignition Signal Circuit

Would any of those cause these problems?
Any other ideas? Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Dont want to miss out on a great deal if it can be fixed relatively cheap.

Code 21. That's your problem. You'll need to see if it's an old style or new style PTU, and if it's old style, I guarantee that it the issue. Swap them out, and I bet she'll fire up. Also look at the yellow coolant temperature sensor on the upper coolant bypass hose, and make sure it's plugged in and free of corrosion.

PTU is $135 new from Z1 for new style, they also have the conversion harness for sale on there: http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_in ... ts_id=1779

Coolant temp sensor is $25. http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_in ... ts_id=1723

Thanks for the help, so the cas code wouldn't stop it from running?

It may, but it could also be the PTU not returning the proper signals. One thing you could do is remove the CAS, turn it by hand, and listen for the injectors firing with the key in the "run" position (engine off [EDIT: as if it runs now anyways, haha]). Be sure to make a mark on the CAS to realign it when you put it back on, as rotating that is how you set timing on these cars.

It could also be the wiring harness. Depends on what kind of shape it's in. If that's the case, there would be an engine pull in the near future.
