Have you tried to jump start it? In the past when you turn on your car does your battery icon light up in your cluster and then go away when you rev it up a little?

Try jumping it or replacing the battery but it could be the start or solenoid. Which can be tested for free at most autozones or pepboys. You just gotta bring it to them.

Not to sound like a d!ck but I have to say, try to figure it out. Its right in your reach, so its something you gotta figure out.

See if your getting power to the solenoid. If you are then see if its getting to the starter. If your getting power to the solenoid from the ignition but its not pulling in allowing 12V to flow to the started then that's whats bad. If you got power into the starter but just nothing then you need a starter.

I would just pull the started and take it to autozone and let them check it for free.

is it possible to remove the starter from the top without jacking up the front of the car?

my arm is in a sling and it would be quite difficult, the local shop said in order to swap it out you would have to lower the transmission down in order to get to it, this true?

try checking your neutral safety switch , and if all else fails install a push button, its really easy.
