I don't know what the hell it is, it was working fine until I tried to put the a/c belt on there. Turned out the a/c wasn't hooked up the SR20 like the guy said it was. Oh well, so anyway, I take off the belt, put everything back together and now the car won't rev past 2500 rpms no matter what I do. And when I start it, it bogs around 1000rpms and won't fully start until I tap the gas. It idles at 1500 rpms. I don't know what the heck is the problem. Any help?

It was the MAP sensor it wasn't plugged in. I'm an idiot... I was freaking out over nothing. hehehe.

yeah, I took apart the alternator pulley to see if I did something wrong with that. Then I jacked the car up like 2 ft and inspected every single vaccum line. Then I was about to take apart my wastegate and was about ready to pull out my head when I noticed a little wire dangling about not plugged into anything. I then proceeded to stab myself multiple times for being such a dork.

Sorry for resurrecting this old thread, but I have this exact same problem; car won't rev past 2500 rmps. Unfortunately, I am a new owner of a used (90) 240SX and am not familiar with the vehicle or cars in general. What is the MAP sensor and where can I find it? I saw on another thread about a MAF; are they one in the same? Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Sounds like the MAF sensor. It's right by your intake filter(bolts to the stock air filter housing if that's all stock). It's a metallic housing about 4-5" long with a plug on it. Sometimes they go bad. A used one shouldn't be that much to buy and swap in and test it.

yep yep, i had similar problems a few times when messing with my intake piping (planning a custom short-intake install) i left the wire that connects to the MAF sensor dangling in the engine bay, and was given a huge suprise when i hopped in the car and tried to drive off, only to be stopped at 2500rpm in first gear quite violently.

I must say it was quite scary, thank god i wasnt trying to accelerate heavily. but yeah, i pulled over, popped the hood, checked over the whole intake system (being that it was all i messedw ith) and sure enough, found the wire hanging dangerously close to my belts, grabbed it and plugged it in (car off of course) and went on my merry way.

ive forgotten to reconnect it a few times after that too but always knew exaclty what it was then on.
