Hey Guys,

I washed my engine yesterday and now my car is stuttering every time you press the gas until about 2500 rpm and then stutters through out the rest. It almost cut off and then if left alone, does. Any ideas?

BTW it looks like the airflow meter was rewired because it had broke. have any ideas on the connections for that also.

thanks

you didnt cover your spark plugs or distributor....did you?

your spark plugs are most definitely wet, along with your distributor prolly too. Gonna have to take off the distributor cap, dry that off and out. Then pull all your plugs and dry them completely off. use a blow dryer to dry out where the plugs go too. This is also a good time to get new spark plugs if your old ones are bad.

it turned out to be the TPS (throttle positioning sensor), it could be your plugs, distributor, etc but i doubt it if it runs fine after 2500rpm. I'd take a look at your TPS connectors(it will be on the side of the throttle body) too see if they are wet, or corroded. if so, either clean them, dry them, or replace the unit!

good luck!-chet

I didn't cover the plugs but I did cover the distributor and I did notice some water in the plugs. hmmmmmm, though they woulda dried by now. Guess its a good time to do a tune up at the same time.

thanks for the help and I might looks at that tps unit also.
