Hey i have a 1990 240sx ka24e auto i stopped to get the mail and i noticed my car was ideling really low then it stalled. Every time i start it now it just stalls out right away. I can hold down the gas while starting it and get it to idle normal for a bit but eventually it will drop and stall. It did this once to me a while ago but the problem never cameback until now. i also notice a kind of squealing maybe bad bearings? or maybe i need to change a pulley? just wondering where i should start. thanks

start by checking your belts, sounds like your alt belt is spinnng it right, and you are getting low to no charge. if they all look good, look for vac leaks, and maybe try starting it without the maf plugged in to see if it runs different.

it's idling fine now because the motor cooled off. Your idle needs to be readjusted with the idle screw when the motor is warm. Back it out a few turns after unplugging your throttle position sensor, then plug that back in. motors tend to idle higher when they're cold as opposed to hot because they heat up faster.

Its weird i took it for a 20min drive idled normal at stop signs went to the gas station left it in park and it slowly idled lower and lower lights dimmed too until stall. So i started it while giving it gas so it was at around 1.5k any time i let of the gas the needle would drop very fast like it was being starved after a little while of giving it gas the idle stabled out and it was fine to drive. I got some gas line anti freeze though ill try that tomorrow. Also it will idle in the normal 650 750 range when its warm when the problem starts the needle just drops very fast not even to stable idle.

Dang man I'm nearly stumped. Is your alternator putting out around 14 volts? take a multimeter to it when the car runs next. The only reason I ask is because you said the lights dim. I know my lights were dim when my alternator went on my daily driver.

EDIT: may want to put your ECU in consult mode and read the light when it blinks. To put in consult: screw the little screw all the way clockwise, wait 3 seconds, then unscrew it until the LED light comes on. It'll start blinking. long blinks are multiplied by 10 and short blinks = 1. add the numbers up and that's the code it throws. This should help if its a sensor or something that's messed up. It will repeat the code for you don't worry. if everything's ok it will keep saying 55

check the alternator, then the battery. If both of those are ok, check to make sure the car is grounded well. Check those things first then give us an update so we can do further hip shooting

to bump this thread and bring it back to life after a year. I am having the same problem. Heres my story

I have an s13 i swapped in a s14 ka24de. I used the s13 dizzy, s13 wiring harness, s13 ecu, s13 wiring harness, and s13 intake manifold. The car starts idles for about 10 seconds, then stalls. I can however keep it "alive" with throttle. Is my idle too low? is something unplugged? Whats the deal?Anyone?

Sounds like a vacuum leak. Try unplugging the MAF and see if it stays alive atleast without feathering the throttle.

Thanks... There is probably still a vaccum line that is not hooked up.
