my car spews like a black cloud of smoke when under heavy acceleration at high rpm...ive checked the compression...fine reading strong and equal through all cylinders, i mean to the last psi... monitored the oil level for about 3000 miles to see if its burning...not burning oil... it smells like gas when it spews... i have removed the butterflies to in my intake manifold... and recently ran sea-foam through it... im wondering if it may be the cat, but i figure its hitghly unlikley... im out of ideas... the car runs strong, if anything it seems faster, ive even had my friends drive it and theyre impressed with the power it produces, but they to notice the smoke and have no clue... if anyone has had this problem...please help me out... :help

Lol there you go. All that power if form the stronger air/fuel mixture. Its cool, just will hurt your gas mileage and eventualy your cat.

I would lean more toward the MAF or O2 sensor on your car. although the O2 goes out of the picture above 75% throttle opening [WOT] check the operation of both of those with a volt meter and see what they are doing.

ok nistech...thats pretty much what my dad told me...he leans on the maf due to the fact that the o2 shuts down at latter throttle... so what would be the proper readings during testing the MAF...thanks!

OK ITS NOT THE MAF...CHANGED THE 02 SENSOR FOR THE HELL OF IT... BUT IT WAS ACTUALLY THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR. I GUESS WHEN THE GUY PULLED THE BUTTERFLIES OUT HE RAN STRAIGHT VACUUM TO THE REGULATOR CAUSING IT TO OPEN HIGH AND STAY HIGH WHEN ENGINE IS REVVED...ESPECIALLY INTO THE HIGH RPM'S... REMAPPED THE VACUUM ROUTING TO FEED OF THE EGR SOLENOID ALONG WITH THE EGR...AND BAM! NO MORE SMOKE...I GUESS IT WAS JUST A RUSHED JOB BEFORE...THANKS PEEPS FOR THE INPUT AND HELPIN ME NARROW MY POSSIBILITIES!
