I'm trying to get my ka-t running reliably and it just isn't working....

Fisrt I had the turbo too close to the block and it melted a couple wires (fixed) and was all bad.

I moved the turbo to more towards the front and towards the drivers fender more. It's all piped up and it should be running fine.

The idle is mostly good... occasional stalling.. Part throttle cruising is fine When i get above like 50% throttle it coughs and sputters like no other... You'd think boost leak but I'm still making 2 lbs part throttle, and it climbs if i get on it a bit.. I haven't tried full throttle because it can't even handle half. It sounds like you're rolling your tounge and couging at the same time if you can imagine.

I've looked extensively for boost leaks and I'm not seeing any.. any ideas?

Has the car been tuned? I see your SAFC settings, but do you have any well of telling if thats a good tune for your car or not? What have you done with timing? Pulled your plugs recently?

do you have an upgraded fuel pump? if not that may be the problem. You really need a wideband before you go out boosting your motor..... you can blow it pretty easy.

timing is at -10, fuel pump is upgraded, haven't checked the plugs recently.....

It really feels like a boost leak... but I can't find any. How can I check for a bad maf?

The things that have changed since it was running correctly was a different manifold position, new hot side charge piping, and slightly modified downpipe.

i'm a newbie when it comes to turbo stuff so don't mind me trying to give you some tips.. but i'm learning at the same, while in the progress this weekend i start my ka24e-t but it sounds like maybe your have an exhuast leak or a bad gasket somewhere on the turbo, if your feeling and saying it really feels likea boost leak to you.

well i since u had manifold/turbo clearance problems i would say make sure there is no exhaust leak, than boost leak, than plugs gap, tps, other sensors/timing,,,... i dunno why everyone assumes fuel pump/fuel is the problem, sr run same pump and have no issues up to what whp? if he was outta fuel i think he detonate or hear knock rather than spattering...

Honestly I don't have too much experience with the turbo application... but the problem that you are discribing happened to me (or a very similar one) and the problem was that my plugs were fouled badly... and that could be one of your problems... but more than likely there is something causing the plugs to get fouled (if that is the case)... my problem was a bad leak in my air intake... fixed that and new plugs and she runs like new... so in your case I would think that a slight boost leak could have fouled your plugs... hope this is helpful

Also, if you melted the wire and added wire of a different gauge, material, or length it could be giving the computer bad readings. Make sure the wire that you used to replace the burnt wire is of similar construction. Also, I assume you soldiered it instead of using butt connectors. Make sure after it is soldiered you use some dielectric and some heat shrink tubing.
