I have a redtop, with 50k miles on it, all stock exhast for exaust and greddy rs bov.

So, my car used to overheat a little when going up hill, so I decided to change out the coolant (put in 70% water and half bottle of water wetter), replace thermostat (just stock nissan replacement), and replace the coolant temp sensor. Did all of that, and now it overheats extremely bad, only a couple minutes after startup. Up past the hot line on my gauge (the stock gauge). So I put back in the stock CTS, didn't change a thing, put back in stock thermostat, no changes again. What the hell else could it be?

There's no leaks at all, but it gets hot very fast, and I can't get the heater to blow hot air, just luke warm...it's always been like that though. Please, someone help, I need this car for work! I can't even drive it with out extremely overheating. Could this just be the water temp gauge? Thanks.

Did you bleed the system? Check the seals on your radiator cap and your waterpump. Anyone else?

Yeah, I filled through the radiator cap until coolant flowed out of the bleed screw hole....all while the car was on an incline too. But the heater doesn't blow hot, really wierd. I think it's just a gauge problem.

Driving the car home tonight, there wasn't a single problem, didn't even get above half, never tried to overheat. This leads me to think it's just the gauge screwed up. If there was a problem, the car would overheat constantly wouldn't it? Anyways, thanks for the help, any more input would be great!

If the heater isnt blowing hot, there's a flow problem. Probably a big air bubble.

Is the thermostat opening?

How do you know if the thermostat is opening or not?

The heater hasn't blown hot since I've owned the car. Not quit sure what to do to fix that, any ideas?

if 1 hose is hot and 1 hose is cold ( upper lower rad. hose) and your not getting heater... flow prob. change out the water pump.

Actually both upper and lower hoses are pretty hot, even after only driving the car for 5 minutes. Every hose is too hot to touch almost, so that wouldn't be a water pump problem would it?

Yeah, mine doesn't seem to be overheating anymore, I think it was just the gauge wigging out. But, I did pull the plugs and look with a flashlight this morning to see if there was any coolant in the cylinders. None whatsoever, so I guess my headgaskets good. Is there any other way to see if the HG is blown or not?

See if there is steam in the exhaust.

You can also do a leak down test and compression test ^_^

Have the same problem, bottom hose cold upper hot, change the thermostat same thing cold and hot hose,so I thought it was the thermostat, hear some termo are defective so I bought two different termo, tryied them both same thing, water pump work,no white smoke, run with out thermo does not overheat till and hour or so in stop and go traffic.and the water level sims low,but don't see water under car or heater core, Can't run it forever with out thermo. I notice something the heater core top hose is hot and the bottom warm, think there is a flow problem??
