help! car keeps shutting off

a couple of days ago my car started to putt and and smoke a lot out the exhaust it happens after its been running for a bit it putts and the rpm go up to like 1500 then back down and then eventually it shuts off i fiugured out what is causing it when i touch the plug a certain way itlll shut off right away and if i push it in the opposit direction it will be fine idk if i can do something or have to replace it please let me know

Clean the MAF connector and MAF pins, crimp all 3 as shown in the pic to get a tight connection, and lube it all up with dielectric grease when you're done. Your pins should look like the one in the middle and probably look like the one on the left right now. The connector should fit tight and have little up and down wiggle when it's clipped in.

Do this first and then clean the MAF per the instructions in the Tech Help section at Q45.org.

And to add to what Brian stated, read up on MAF issues (Search word: MAF) and maybe even scan through the first page of threads in this forum. There's a lot there pertaining to the new Q owner. Good luck.
