I need some help. I have been without my 03 Nissan Altima since 9/12/07. Initial I thought the problem was with the transmission so I took it the transmission place and when the tow truck came and tried to start the car it drove for two minutes and died. Keys were stuck in the ignition and the car was stuck in gear. Once i took the vehicle to the dealer they took a while to diagnose the problem as the Unified meter control and told me it was going to cost over $500 to fix. The problem is now THOUGH THE GRAPEVINES I AM HEARING THERE IS A NATIONAL BACKORDER FOR THE PART. Which means I have no idea when I am getting my car back and Nissan consumer affairs nor the dealer is helping me. I have over 75,000 miles on the car, I bought the car in 05 and I am still making car payments and I don't know what to do. PLEASE HELP ME

Oh man, that sucks! I hope they at least had the decency to give you a loaner?

is the car at a nissan dealer? If so, tell the dealer thats a piss poor way for them to represent nissan "not our fault" they should do whatever it takes. Make some calls to nissan corporate and start rattling the cage!

tell them that you want the part to be upgraded to CSC (customer care) and if they refuse tell them you will be contacting Nissan NA and the BBB that will wake them up, pretty much when a parts on BO it sits there for awhile, unless it gets VOR'd (overnight) most part orders are on a stock order (2-5 days) if its backordered your screwed but if its VOR'd it will be top priority unless theres a line, now if they customer care it, you will get to the top of the line, unless theres other that are customer cared but yea the fasted way to get a part that is backordered is to customer care it
