Mods, please move this thread if you feel it shouldn't be in general discussion! just figured there is a lil more traffic here than tech chat...

Identify the cooling fans out of my car, and get....a free cookie! :dblthumb:

Guys, I need your help on this one. Nobody will probably know the answer, but I will be stoked if someone comes up with the goods! All right, I know this is an absolute, TOTAL shot in the dark, but my s13 came wired with some kind of OEM cooling fans out of a car, of which, I'm assuming an import. The previous owner was an electrical engineer for Honda R&D, so he wired them to both come on at the flip of a switch, but he had no idea what car the fans came out of (since they were already on the car when he bought it, and never asked the owner WHAT car the fans came out of) Now I've done a lot of searching on google of pictures of ALL kinds of OEM cooling fans for different makes, and I have come close, but everytime there is a difference upond further insepctions. Also, it appears that with out any kind of bending the braketing for the fan assembly likes up perfectly for the top connections on my Koyo s13 SR20 radiator. well here are some pics of the fans in question:

now here's the fan assembly removed from the car

sticker reads Nihon Radiator with numerics of "7L J" also made in Japan haha

plug, kinda irrelevant cause I think it's an aftermarket one that the previous owner used to wire it into harness

Ok look, I know most of you are thinking, why bother with all this, just go with the fans out of a Maxima, yadda yadda yadda...that's not the point. I'd love to find what car these fans are out of, so I can go to the local junkyard and pick up another set for when/if these ones ever bug out! Things are already wired in my car for them, so I like to keep it simple, and they work GREAT. ANY help is appreciated, as I'm already under the impression we won't be able to figure out what car these things came out of! thanks for your time guys...

They may not have come out of a us market car, the original installer may have snagged them out of a random half cut he had access to.(could possibly be the reason you can't find a match)

Simple solution is to just run them until (if ever) they die, then cut off the plug and get another set out of whatever you can get your hands on, then take said cut off plug and attach it to the replacement fans.

yeah, the more I think about it, this is probably a lost cause, and I just can go that route like you mentioned if it ever came down to it! as little use as they get, maybe they won't ever DIE! hahah oh well no biggy I guess, thanks man!
