Hey wassup! Im just rebuilt my SOHC Ka24e! I have Forged ARIAS Pistons and stock forged rods. Really proud of it untill i started it up for the first time. When i turned and cracked it a couple times to start it it would make this weird clunk clunk sound. Then i poured oil into the spark plug holes to make sure the oil rings were sealing. We cranked it again, the car turned on, revved the rpms to about 2500 then let go of the accelorator the cars bogs down and turns off. I restart it again then repeat the revs. Same problem. I then do a compression test and cylinder leakage test on all 4 Cylinders to check my compression and im gettting very low numbers 80's to 85 on the gauges from Cylinders #2 and #4 But im getting 125 even on cylinders #1 and #3. What could be causing this problem and what can i do to fix this? PROFESSIONAL TECHNICAL HELP IS HIGHLY PREFERED! THANXS

wait... u have the uber rare USDM forged stock rods!! wow

did u install the piston rings correctly? that would make sense to me... and is there any weird smells? maybe ur flooding the engine... injector issue.. low compression can be caused by too much gas in the cylinders, and the gas will wash away the oil on the cylinder walls, giving u sh*t compression... so A, check to see if the rings were installed rightB, investigate the fuel stuff

Yea i was kind of surprized they were forged myself! So does this mean i have to take everthing back off including head and check the Exhaust valves? Cuz of when i did the cylinder leakage test air was coming str8 out of the Headers. lol THanx Again!!

sounds like you got the cam timing off and bent some valves. rings will usually still seal and it wont be until after its running for a few moments will ring problems be noticable. My friend bought a rebuilt KA from a guy and the rings were all mixed up, we found out after he started it. lol. Pull your valve cover off and rotate the engine either by hand or by cranking it over and see if you can see any of the exhaust valves being shut close rapidly due to piston contact. It will be a real obvious and loud clunk/click, plus it will close faster than the others. peace.

Thanx guys! I found the problem! I tore the head apart and checked my valves. It appears that wen i rebuilt the head i forgot to grind the seats right, so they weren't sealing at all. So Im re-grinding the valve seats to 45 Degrees USDM Specs. Actually u were right! I do have stock Forged rods! Check em out! I didnt believe it either but its true! Ill post some pics! LOL
