So last night about 6 7 ish I was on my way to hang out with the guys when someone cuts me off like a jacka$$. I slam on my brakes to not hit him. About 5 mintues later I reach the country club of the south and head through the gate over a speed bump and start hearing something rubbing..And immediatly (sp) Freaked! I pulled over and check the right front tire becuase thats where it was coming from. I can seem to find anything that could be wrong besides the fact my brakes pretty rusty (no fundage to fix right now).

The rubbing/clunking continues as I reach my buddys house and I leave it so I can let the brakes cool to where I can touch them and check them out before i leave about an hour an a half later I come out to check them again. I still can't find anything wrong!!!!

I drive home w/ no problems the Problem just, disapeared...so I thought!

*monday morning*

I leave for school and I hear the same horrible sound but worse With no choice but to drive to school I keep going. Half way to school the sound goes away ..

*after school*

Soon as I get out of school I go to my car hoping and praying everything will be ok on the ride home. WRONG the problem comes back and is way worse then the other times With no idea what to do I drive to another buddys house and remove the tire and look at the rotor/caliper and my friends father says that my rotor was probably warped when i braked hard? Or the inside of my caliper is f##ked...I really need some help here guys!

P.s. SORRY FOR THE LONG POST.....I can't get my f##king pic to post becuase its too big and the resizer page doesn't want to resize it but The pic is the rotor and where the lugnuts go there should be four places to screw it on and one is missing i'm not sure if yall understand but yeah.

Check your brake fluid level in master cylinder. Rotors are cheap.

I'm missing on the things where the lug nut screws on...Not sure of the correct term but the freaking screwy onto thingy!

And the cover behind the rotor is closer...Not sure if that matters but hey.

Edit: Wtf the pics not coming up!

Sounds like you might have warped your rotor. Either that or your caliper piston might be freezing in place sporadically if your pads are too worn down.

If I were you I would invest in new brakes up front. Although one of the fairly cheaper mods to your car, it yeilds instant results. Even replacing stock with stock sounds like a good idea.

Take your caliper off and post a picture of the piston. Someone here will tell you if it is frozen too far out.

Also, does your car vibrate when you lay on the breaks? Be sure to check for wear on the inside of the rotor and inner pad.

My best guess is that the square-cut o-ring in your caliper isn't consistently helping to pull the piston back, after you let your foot off of the brake. Or one of your sliders is sticking wearing your brakes unevenly. Make sure to check both the inside & outside pads.

Have you even removed the wheel to get a better look yet?

Uh 240Ghost, you bumped this thread ~1.5 hrs after your initial post. Keep in mind most members have other things to do aside from "oh my god! there's a new thread in the 240sx technical section! I'd better make a post pronto!" Relax. We'll get around to it.

Now onto your problem. From my understanding, you're missing a wheel stud? You've got 3 of the 4 studs to mount your wheel. Ok, that could lead to some problems over extended periods of time. But here are some questions I've got for you. When you brake, do you feel a pulsation at the brake pedal?

When was the last time you had your rotors changed? If you're hearing a rubbing sound, it could be from a few places. I've had a caliper pin bolt come off on me on the freeway that gave me a grinding sound before. It could also be a few other things. But I think the first thing you need to do is to take a picture of the wheel(s) in suspect and let us see what could be the issue.

Yes, I have taken the wheel off. My pictures were off of a cellphone cam. And it wouldn't let me resize them to upload them onto nico. Yes I apologize for bumping so soon. No the car doesn't shake when I brake. Since i've had the car I haven't changed them...No pulsation. I was planning on getting new brakes anyways so this just gives me more reasons too. Does anyone know of any brands they'd recomend (sp) for just the front right now?

Is it safe to bump now?

For the money, you can't go wrong with hawk pads and cheapo replacement rotors. With the information you've provided though, it sounds like you might want to replace the calipers aswell. Examine the way the pads have been wearing. Are they worn more on the inside/outside? Are they worn more at the top/bottom? How does the outside of the piston look? Are the dust boots for your sliders and piston in good shape?

Bottom line is, what do you want to spend? z32 kits are for sale in the classifieds all the time.

well the pulsation would have been more of an indicator of a severe warping. I'd suggest coughing up a buck or two and getting a new wheel stud while you're down below doing the brakes from probably somewhere like nopi for the brembo blanks and getting some good pads. Z32 brakes are good stuff, but pricey still. I'm using endless CC-A pads on Project Mu rotors and the combination of the two are incredible.

There is a good chance that all you need is new pads. Post a pic of the pads. If the pads are good, then you have a bad caliper. Sometimes they get all gunk up and will not release properly.
