I jacked up my engine to gain access to the oil pan for my turbo return fitting. However the engine is now off of the mounts and is not lining up as needed. What's the best way to get it back on. I don't have an engine puller all, All I have is various jacks and jacks stands.

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

where are the bolts in relation to the holes?

how is it supported now?

So did you take the mounts off from the bottom bolt or the top bolt. Meaning did you take the bolts to the mounts from the bottom of the car or in the engine bay? If you took it out from the engine bay.... Oh man, you're more then screwed, you'll have to invest in a cherry picker to get that thing back in and still it'll be a pain in the @ss. If you took off the bolts from under neath the car, then you can jack it up slightly and allow the bolts to rest on the mount where the holes are. When they are resting on this, you can use some sort of long tool to tap it into the hole, do the same thing to the other side and you'll be ok. Sorry it's early in the morning and I'm a little laggin on my discriptive power. Anyway, good luck.

get some big pry bars and push the engine where you need it. be careful and dont knock it off the jacks. and get a buddy or two to help so you can kick their *** when it all goes wrong.

well hopefully you loosened the motor mounts from the top. at least i think it'll be easier to get it to line up. the olts on the bottom if loosened will allow the mounts to slide a little, notice i said little bit up and down, and very little from left to right.that way lowering the motor, which should be able to roll slightly if you jack has wheels , and the small flexibility of the mounts will make it easier to line at least one up. you'll have to rock "or using a pry bar as everyone stated" shift the motor. once one is lined it shouldnt be too hard to get the other one you just have to readjust and tighten the mounts again, but should and will are too different dammits, and yes it will be easier with a friend.

Easiest way:

Loosen the 4 14mm bolts on the block most the way. As you lower the motor, get one side on (I'd do the pass side first, it's harder to get to under the intake manifold). Leave all the bolts loose...on the top of the mount and the 4 on the block.

Now focus on the drivers side mount...same drill.

Once you've at least got all both top nuts on, drop the engine slowly and once it's in place, tighten them all.

A helper/friend/wifey really helps here...

Good Luck - Brian
