help!! bent tire rod?

hey guys yesterday i was driving my '08 a/c and i dont know wtf i hit but it bent the crap out of the back left tire. so now its slightly bent inwards. and the wheel pulled to the right when i drove it home. the roadside guy came and took the tire off and said the tie rod or tire rod is bent. it looks like a 6-inch steel thin rod with a little bend in the middle. he said it could be easily hammered easily to straighten out. he also said he would do it for me for $100. i wanna know what do you guys think i should do? take to the dealer or let this guy do it? help! thanks.

Buy a new one. There could be small cracks and over time you may find yourself in a bad situation if it breaks. They're not that expensive and even if it is it'll be fixed properly.
