In the process of swapping motors and cleaning it up, I apparently lost my powersteering pump i have the brackets but not the pump..here is the help part: Is there anyway I can run the motor without that pump? I dont plan on using powersteering, but my teacher said I needed it for the water pump pulley. Is there any belt that will fit tightly enough to run the water pump pulley from the crank pulley?? if not let me know. TIA.

Hey! Your teacher is right, the same belt that drives power stearing pump, drives water pump, and cooling fan (if you haven't switched to electric fan, yet) I think that you would have a problem not having the power steering pump installed because it also works as a tensioner for this specific belt.

Somebody else would probably have an idea how to install belt without tensioner.

Mishka.

what motor is this on? DE or E? if its the E.... i think the WP runs on the same belt as the alternator and off the crank pulley.

DE, and damn good point there mishka, didn't think of that when i was lookin around that, so am guessin replacing the ps for some sort of tensioner?(sort of using the same pulley but removing the ps, that'd require some welding and thinkin)

Just my first read, and I guess that becomes a bump. The DE runs the WP on the same belt as PS, so it would require some sort of tensioner or idler to function (don't ask how I know), but I have only been under the hood of the E once, and am not sure, if I remember the PS runs on the opposite side of the motor, so the WP should not run off of it. Basically, if the WP has no belt, then you are ****ed.

ok..for the 2 that made a stupid comment about my sig... F OFF...and the others that attempted to help..thanks..but im just trying to see if anyone knows about me just running a belt from the crank to the water pump, if it was small and i were to stretch it some to fit over both pullies tightly.

Belts do not stretch.I think I have an idea. There is a tensioner pulley for A/C right below, I think you can use this one.Remove A/C pump belt also, then replace the bolt on the A/C belt tensioner pulley with a longer one, install a spacer between the pulley mounting bracket and a block ( so it would come in line with Water Pump/Power Steering Pump belt and use it as a tensioner.

But it deffinitely is a bad idea. This is not the belt you want to play with. Just find a PS pump. Mishka.

It is important to understand that if the angle isn't 100%, the belt will burn up and jump off track.

Here, use this image, you have too much whitespace on the one you are using.

A beautiful pic, but the black wheels with a polished lip are rice, AND I LOVE THEM! So anyone can talk crap, but your S14 looks very decent.

Are you talking about my car. Because thats my sig, I reposted his pic with less whitespace so he can use it in his sig, your wording confuses me.

Ive never had anyone talk crap about my S14, not that im jesus or anything but I take pride in my good taste and quality parts used to make my car the way it is. Also my Volk Racing GUNMETAL 18s" from 1997 (before the term rice was invented) are nowhere near rice. Black on chrome 15" with 45 offset from pepboys/kragen are rice.

as everyone has mentioned, you'll need to adjust the tension somehow. if i was trying to do what you are then i'd get a tensioner pulley and bracketry from a pullapart and make it work. bearing in mind that the belt does not like being run at an angle.

just get a power steering pump. also, why run it w/out fluid? why not just hook it all up?anyways, if you cant find a PS pump, talk to fiznat, i think he has like 3 laying around collecting dust... then ask him when hes coming up here and partying
