I have a 2007 Maxima SE w/approx. 36,000. When car is running, mainly at idle, or when first applying throttle I have a chirping sound (sounds like a bird) that appears to be coming from one of the belts. The vehicle was returned to the dealership for another warranty issue, but big surprise the dealership claims they were unable to hear the chirping sound. Starting to drive me nuts, I have applied belt dressing but it doesn't stop. Can anyone tell me what to do to stop this noise. This is not the standard belt squeeling sound, however I have also heard that before, but only on extremely cold days, and it quits as soon as the engine begins warming up.

Do I need to replace the belts, or does one of them need to be adjusted. Appreaciate any help anyone can offer.

check the belt tension and adjust if needed - probably just a little loose. if you replace the belt and it's just a tension issue it'll still chirp.

You might ask the dealership if they used a gauge to tightenthe belts and what the readings on the gauge were

Double check to make sure you serpentine belt isn't cracked either.

Not sure how the stealership checked the belt, or if they for sure checked it. I have myself took the passenger side wheel off at looked at the belt. Belt still looks new in my opinion. I did notice the belt feels a little on the tight side. It had very little give. I read somewhere else she be approx. 1/4" give, don't think I have that. Could the belt being to tight be causing the chirping sound? TIf so, where can the tension adjuster be found? I do most of my work on all my cars, however this is my first nissan, so I am a little unfamiliar with there setups.
