I need to know what needs to be spliced from the sr wiring harness to work for my auto to manual swap. i know that the transmission needs the speed sensor to display mph, but what else is there? i'm stuck and can't find anything in search.

you need to trick the nuetral position switch before it will start. you also need to find the 2 wires for reverse lights. Shaun

180fan. I read your article, and I've never even heard of hardwiring the plug off the AT gear selector. That wasn't done on my car, and it works fine. It wasn't done on BoyWonder's car, and it works fine. So, why did you do it?

You also left the reverse switch hookup off the list.

Find the passenger side fusebox, and go to the middle plug. You'll need to cut two wires off of it. The green/blue and the green/white wires need to be cut. The reverse sensor is a non-polarized switch, so you don't need to worry about which wire attaches to which wire on the sensor. Just attach one of the plug wires to the sensor and the other plug wire to the other sensor wire.

Those are different locations for the wires that others have been saying to grab at the fusebox. I followed the directions a local guy who does mechanic work gave me. The guy's pretty reputable and does alot of work on 240's as he's got 3 himself and sold quite a few others. My reverse lights work by the way, I just have to make sure my clutch is pressed in since the kill for the "clutch not pressed in" isn't hooked up.

the local SR guru around here does it the way I outlined. So I guess it's different means to the same end.

Yeah those are the wiring stuff I saw after I did the AT to MT conversion with my motor swap. Personally I didn't look into the wiring too much since I knew a few guys that did the conversion and all pointed me to the guy I asked. As long as it works hee hee
