I bet that the bulb just blew. If it has never been changed then it is at least 17 years old. Welcome to NICO!!

So you think it has nothing to do w not starting? Does something in the transmission sometimes become jammed and prevent it from starting?? Kinda confused it ran perfeft then I parked it and it wouldn't start

Thanks for the welcome

Well it's possible that the park/neutral switch is worn out and not working properly. That would cause a no start condition. Have you tried starting the truck in neutral instead of park?

Yes neutral makes no difference. Additionally makes no difference what gear it is in it :/
Park and neutral switch? Is that the the piece mounted on the transmission itself

It switch is located on the trans itself. You could try jumping the harness with a wire for testing purposes. There are two terminals on the connector that are responsible for the park/neutral switch signal to the starting system.

Here's the FSM page for these trucks. The starting circuit is in the EL section.

Bump for a zombie thread. I'm having the same issue after I rebuilt a 94 auto. The light on the dash will show R,D,2,1 but not park or neutral. Did you try jumping it out with any success?
