I know it's silicone but oil goes through.Trying to redo it/replace it.I searched and searched for how to and everything and help?I got the passenger side all clear just have the bracket that holds the plugs in that's near the manifold.Couldn't take it out will do tomorrow sine it took me 2hrs+ just doing that side. Also found out the radiator hose was put on wrong from previous owner. That's why it was leaking before. Brushed it all off and looks clean now.

Back to the valve covers if there's any link or thread here on how to do it would help a lot.Gotta get it done before Christmas or my car stays in shop until next year. While im at it im going to maybe bead blast them or clean them.

Also is it hard taking the manifold off?wanted to clean that too but i wanna hear if it is.

If there's and write ups that would help too im just stuck on how to take it off all hoses are off too by the way eve the fuel lines which threw fluid all on my hands.

Thanks.

-Berner

To answer your second question first about pulling the plenum, even experienced techs. call it the "damn spider" for a reason!

Here's a link to Jeff's write-up on changing his valve cover gaskets. Keep in mind that he's working on a '94, so he used a rubber gasket vs. RTV on the older Q.

Good luck!

Thank you very much you are my hero haahah not but thanks.

Doesn't matter if it's rubber or not as long as it helps me take it off.

It has been about 8 years since my last DIY rocker cover reseal, but I don't recall removing that bracket.

Passenger side is easy as cake to do the plugs, but I can't imaginge doing the valve covers on either side.

na its harder than you think alot of plugs cracked like when i pushed to release them.

on the driver side right where all those hoses come in and you gotta remove those to take off the plastic. Its under there.

Id take pics but the cars in school. My teacher said my motor has been ran very hott before im guessing overheated. The damn previous owners dont know how to do anything. My radiator hose was but on wrong, Some screws were stripped, just stuff that stupid people who dunno about cars do when repairing. But its right where those 5/4 hoses connect its on the driver side right under the place cover.Theres a plug going down and i tried popping it off and it just broke.

What does the plug go to?

That can all be repaired as long as the motor was'nt overheated, The only way to know is to do a leak test and a compression test But neither is as good a written proof of an overheat.

Good luck and happy repairing.
