hey guys,

I have a 89' 240sx and I a redoing my front rotors and pads, when all said and done, i go to squeeze the caliper on.....and I get nothing, I have tried everything I could to get it to go back in, I opened the bleeder valve and tryed to clamp it in with a big monkey wrench, I've tried everything I could think of and it won't move, only thing I haven't tried is ratcheting a C-clamp on it, but do I have a seized caliper? am i screwed? is there any little tricks or last minute thing i can do? I really don't want to have to get a new caliper thanks for the help guys!

hmmm.. Can you snap a quick picture and post it up?

Your not doing the rear calipers right?? Because those you have to twist the piston back in.

Take the top off the brake fluid reservoir so that if you put too much pressure backwards on the lines, the fluid will have a place to be able to overflow to and relieve pressure.

Do both calipers act the same way or is it just one?

I've got a tool that I use to spread the pistons.. It's a very large screw with a washer on one end and a plate on the other side with a handle on the end. You put washer side of the screw into the caliper's piston and the plate on the bracket on the back side and twist the handle on the end until you have the caliper spread out far enough fit back on the piston.

Huh, the fsm just says:

Installation:1) Clean Piston area around lock and guide pins. Install inner pad. Seat piston by placing lever through opening in caliper body and pushing piston into bore.

I am doing the front, and this is the only one being greg luganis haha, I took the cap off the brake resivor and no luck. I will take a pic if I can tomorrow. I also pumped the brakes to see if I could break it loose, it move out slightly but I could not make it go back, weird hmmm I really hope I do not need to replace the caliper, 70 bucks for new one

Sounds like a bad caliper. Try to push it in with a C clamp. If you have to put too much stress on it just to get it to move you should really replace the caliper. Judging by where you live and how old the car is, if they are original its about time to replace them.

Caliper is frozen. Just get a rebuilt but you should do both sides at the same time. So buy a pair of them.

if you can find a rebuild kit for this car.. its fairly easy to do it yourself.

Time to upgrade to Q45 brakes.
